Worth Every Stitch
Shirts, simply put- oxfords and poplins and the odd textile that comes along once and won't come again- all made up with classic button-down collars, a wide 70s point, or a clean spread that'll take you somewhere nice. Two-pocket workshirts on one end, dress shirts on the other, and a lot of good ground in between. All of it sewn by hand at a little camiceria in Naples, where the collar, the sleeve, and the yoke are still attached the old way- one at a time,by hand.
The button-down collar shirt has a long history on the American campus- home to the blazer-and-khakis crowd, but also to the beatniks, the troublemakers, and the ones who were quietly rewriting the rules. Our classic oxford shirt draws from that tradition: a full-rolling button-down collar, split yoke, box pleat, and chest pocket, cut in a sturdy 100% cotton oxford that wears equally well on a Tuesday or a Saturday. The most casual shirt in the J.M. Classics range, and probably the one you'll reach for most.
Superfine poplin body, piqué cotton bib, and a covered placket with no studs required. Our tuxedo shirt features french cuffs and a simple spread collar- our most dressed-up offering, and probably our most understated.
The Carter shirt takes its name and its attitude from Michael Caine in his prime- a long, louche point collar that somehow manages to look equally sharp under a suit or half-unbuttoned on the weekend. Cut in multi-stripe poplins and plain oxfords, it's the most versatile shirt in the range, and one of the most eye-catching. Made, like everything we do, by hand at our camiceria in Naples.
Same long point collar as the Carter, but this one's built for the long haul- two oversized chest pockets with button-through flaps, and a fit that nods to the vintage pieces that inspired it. We like the work shirt with a knit tie and a casual jacket, but honestly it could pair with just about anything in your wardrobe.
